Hi, can anybody give me a definitive answer on whether I need to have seatbelts in my car for the MOT. its a 68 Dart, when I bought it, it had a current MOT but no seat belts, its been of the road for a few years for various reasons but now its about ready for an MOT and I'm not convinced ill get aw...

Mate, took front and back out of my 68 Dart myself and reinstalled using the original rubbers. Didn't have any problems leaving both refits part fitted over night.
Maybe others with far more experience would disagree, I may have been lucky.

Dave, forgot to ask, when you did the MAD electrical ammeter bypass did you fuse the alternator feed to the starter relay ?

Thanks Dave, no electronic ignition at the moment and as far as I can tell, the wiring looks unmolested, so like you I've gone ahead and ordered a new VR but I will take your advice and go back through the loom and also recheck the earthing. From barrel to bulkhead, at some time somebody has cut the insulation and then taped it over?? If its as simple as just measuring it then that's fine thanks, I thought the wire was rated on number of strands and amperage and all that stuff, not having much knowledge of auto wiring requirements perha...
