I used to go to the Chelsea cruise in the seventies and eighties (and occasionally in the nineties) and would love to go to this. Only trouble is, my van is having steering and suspension work done and I'm not sure if I'll have it back in time.
Not only that, driving in London is an absolute ...

Re: Heads for 318
Well, my engine build is on hold at the moment as chassis and suspension work is taking up a lot of time and money.
It also turns out I've got a 3.91 gear in the diff if this little label is anything to go by. it looks like I might have to add a 3.23 gear to the shopping list at some point so I can ...

Re: Heads for 318
Well, The Eddy heads arrived from Summit, but not without a little hiccup by UPS this end.
Because of the weight they were sent as two separate items with two separate tracking nos.. Makes sense.
However, when they got to this end they got separated, one got delivered on Monday and the other came on ...

Re: Heads for 318
I’ll definitely be getting in touch with Ron or Chris in the new year for all the other engine internals. You’re right about ordering stuff directly, total PITA. Last time I ordered a large item it took a week to arrive in the UK and then another 2 weeks for DHL to clear it through customs and ...

Re: Heads for 318
That cam seems to be a popular choice on a lot of the engine builds that are out there online.
Rear gears on my van are 3.55 and I'll be using stock-ish height tyres.
I've got no idea what stall speed the converter is ? Whatever was standard when the engine was built presumably?
I'm assuming the ...

Re: Heads for 318
Thanks for the thumbs up on the Eddy heads Dave. I suppose the next decision is what cam to use that will make the most of these heads and the KB flat top pistons without loosing too much in the way of street ‘manners’???

Re: Heads for 318
So, Black Friday came and you were right, Some good deals on the Speedmaster heads. 35% off!!
I'll get me some of that......
until it came to shipping..... almost $1000 !!
It is cheaper to get a pair of Edelbrock heads from Summit. The heads are more expensive but shipping is only $160.

Re: Heads for 318
Thanks Neil and Dave for all the info. You’re right, by the time I’ve shelled out for valves, springs, probably guides and maybe some porting work I’ll be looking at the thick end of £1K. If there are any Black Friday deals to be had on ally heads that might be more cost effective and it’ll take out ...
