Re: Does this engine sound right to you?

Sorry for the long time in replying to this, thank you everyone for the advice. I finally got round to faffing with the car,i put a new roller timing chain on,which has made the car run better/smoother. I swapped the distributor for a hei style one,so i didn't have to have a coil etc anymore, which ag...

Re: Does this engine sound right to you?

Ok chaps, the timing chain has some slack,10 degrees i would say,so im going to try 34 degrees total for now.The tdc checks out though. I have a new roller chain to put on,so i will see what it runs like after its fitted. From what i have just read,my spark plugs say the timing is too high, idle circu...

It has 22 inital and 44 degrees total ti...

Re: No dash lights, what are these plugs?

Just to follow up on this in case anyone has the same question. The white plugs are for something called the seatbelt interlock system module,a well loathed idea fitted to 1974 cars. https://forabodiesonly.com/mopar/attachments/0613182126a-jpg.1715187316/ and the wire shoved in to the front of the f...

Re: New starter or rebuild it?

Well, the problem is solved.I took the starter relay to bits again and discovered the tiny wire going to the neutral safety switch from the solenoid winding had a bad connection to the post,i soldered it back on and it worked, which is good enough until my new relay comes. So it was a combination of ba...

Re: New starter or rebuild it?

I only had an hour today to look at my car,so while im waiting of a new starter relay coming i thought ill take the one on the car to bits, check the contacts. The contacts were pitted so i cleaned them up,put the relay back on the car, turn the key, nothing still. I earthed the nss wire through my mult...

Re: New starter or rebuild it?

I know what you mean,I ordered some things from a big UK parts supplier, took 2 weeks to get delivered and cost 3 times as much as the same things from Rockauto.Sadly there dont seem to be any uk yank parts suppliers with realistic prices.

Re: New starter or rebuild it?

I ordered that very starter motor pictured above, from Rockauto. Arrived in 3 days and fit like a glove, super impressed with Rockauto.I paid extra for express shipping, should i have bothered?how fast do things usually come from Rockauto using standard shipping? Fitted the new starter, turned the key a...
