Re: Dave's 72 Dart

Sometimes I think the man upstairs has a plan for me. Maybe early acceptance..... :angel2:  After 2 months I finally get a message that my pistons are now in stock. That would be the day after the UK £ took an amazingly impressive dump due to the waste of sperm that is the UK government. Not on...

Re: Dave's 72 Dart

Would upgrade to Midi, but think the smallest is 30a. That may be the same as some of the wiring, so want it lower for obvious reasons.

Re: Dave's 72 Dart

Its been a long time since ive looked at this but from memory. MAD ammeter bypass was done. I've used a midi fuse (50a) on the alternator feed. This is purely from the cabin to the starter solenoid, so should be low amp. No heater, no radio, just switches. So the fuse that I had in was 25a. I believ...

Re: Dave's 72 Dart

Still waiting for parts from the states. This could be a long term engine build. So decided to take it out for a quick trip down to Ludlow to get some V8 goodness. Usual thing is to hold it on the starter for 10 seconds to get a bit of oil circulated. It kicked once and died. Tried the key again and...

Re: Dave's 72 Dart

Thanks chaps.
I was thinking Hughes 3000 or 3500, so the numbers you suggest Blue are where I expected it to be. :thumbright:

Dynamic CR is around 8.2:1 by online calculation Dave, with the above cam.

Re: Dave's 72 Dart

Hi Neil, Thanks for the link. But, already too far down the road with parts to suit the 318/390. That plus I've always wanted to try pushing the base 318 so it embarrasses the big block guys. :angel12: yep, there's a lot of guys on the 'for a bodies only' forum that i see you're also on that swear ...

Blue wrote: Sun Aug 14, 22 11:39 am Dave, if you want to open up the oil galleries I have the required drill and reamers. Not strictly needed but I thought it was cheap insurance. Grinding out the main cap to oil pump join is also a good idea.
Thanks John, I will let you know if and when.
