Bakersfield March Meet Sat 9th.

Post by Stu Twin »

Pics from Saturday 9th. Temp in the mid 50's but thankfully dry after the thursday & friday were all but washed out. 2 day ticket $55.
Show n shine plus swap meet and racing. As Wolfman said the swap meet was disappointing, more aimed at the Rodders. Loads of rusty original tin, Schwinn bicycles and Coke machines. A bit like Arena Essex really.
Apparently Great White (80's Zep-a-like) played there one evening but we didn't see them.
Racing split into 4 classes i think for doorslammers - A, B, C & D Gas. Ranging from 6.60 to 9.60. Plus Nostalgia funny cars, dragsters & altereds. Shame no S/S or A/FX. Predictably very few Mopars compared to the usual Ford / GM. From memory i think some of the floppers were running mid 5's at 250 in the full quarter.
Sunday pics to follow.
