VC Valiant RAX 95F

Post by AndyB »

Someone on Facebook is desperately seeking this VC. Belonged to their Grandad and they would like to try and buy it back. Apparently may be in Essex. Anyone know the car?

Here is the Facebook plea, I have never met the person who posted it.....

Here I need the power of Facebook to share my status to find the current owner of my late grandfathers car.
My grandfather built this Chrysler Valiant 1967 model from hand which took him many years to complete. Sadly He decided to sell the car when my Nan fell ill and at that time in my life I did not drive nor could possible afford a car of this type.

He sold his pride and joy to a gentleman who cherished it for a couple of years before he moved abroad and sold it on.

The last information I have is that a gentleman from Essex currently owned the vehicle.
I know this because 18 moths ago me and my mother began to write a letter to this gentleman in Essex as his address was kindly provided by the bloke my grandfather originally sold the car to.

Suddenly not long after my mother sadly passed away before she had chance to post the letter.
I remember brief abstracts of the letter my mother wrote explaining who we were, and her sons wish to have his grandfathers old car.

I remember my mother speaking about us planning to drive down to Essex to see the car which was a big part of our family.
I have many found and emotional memories of this car, summer holidays, my bamp taking me to school and teaching me to drive up the old Pit near to where we lived.

Since my mother has gone I have no correspondence address or contact details for this gentleman to approach to try and purchase the car (if he would be willing to sell of course). Additionally I have no contact details for the gentleman who moved abroad either.

I have held off since I lost my mam as I have struggled emotionally since her passing.
But these last few months the more I think about it the more I can hear her in my ear telling me go for it, find it, buy it and Bananarama! like your bamp did.

I do realise that there may be a possibility that the gentleman who I think currently has the car (in Essex) may have sold the car on in the last two years.

Therefore I hope Facebook can help me at least find a contact or lead to where the car is currently and who owns it.

The car is a valiant Chrysler 1967 model.
The last number plate I know the car had was RAX 95F.

Please like and share this status to help me find my grandfathers car for both me and my mother 🚗 .

Many thanks 💙

ah it's not a joke

i think one of them had a chrysler option or a rare aftermarket addition of a record player

think longshot had it at one point

either way if the record player was a chrysler one (rare) or a aftermarket one (odd in the UK, not so much in the US) it was and is a car with a unique bit of history.

either way i thought the record player car was for sale just a while ago and probably isn't this one.
and you have an opportunity to make contact with a previous owners grandson and then possibly a decision on selling it or keeping it with the promise of first refusal to grandson

its great to be able to get access to some history of your car either way.

The internet and Facebook does have its uses then. Glad the car is still around and in safe hands. \:D/

Hi thanks for the info on the record player, yes the beast still lives tho in a bit of a state due to old repairs and previous owner leaving it outside since 2009.I am restoring the car purely as an amateur, there are loads of rust issues, horror story under the ton of body filler on the front wing for example, not being able to source a replacement i built one from scratch which is now almost complete,i have been in contact with lad who was looking for the car which was great.it's a long road ahead but i'll get there in the end.

I always like a VC

has certain Homer simpson (car) similarities in respect to the rear lights.
fella i worked with in Oz had one jacked up at the rear end in a nod to 70s style

We need to organise a Valiant cruise out this summer. I believe there's a number of us not a million miles away from each other. I'm in Berkshire, Dave's not that far from me, Alan - I believe you are just up the M4 a bit, VJ Charger David is Surrey I think. Who else is nearby and/or is up for a meet?
