Re: 68 valiant signet 2 door
2 deliveries today, blankets for the seats and the upper ball joints. the lowers are coming from summit so hopefully will be with me by the weekend.
Re: 68 valiant signet 2 door
update... summit emailed stating they don't have the lower joints and won't get them 'til at least the 22nd. so i had a look on ebay and got one side here in the uk and the other from the states. what a palaver.
Re: 68 valiant signet 2 door
today i fitted 3 of the new balljoints. both o/s and the upper n/s. i'm still waiting for the n/s lower which on these 'a' bodies is the steering arm also. everything came apart nice and easy (even the top joints didn't need heat to come undone) so a pretty straightforward job.
Re: 68 valiant signet 2 door
you might find that rockauto can turn up a moog joint faster....

Re: 68 valiant signet 2 door
all done and back on it's wheels. let the torsion bars back down a turn as advised it'll drive better, we'll see.

Re: 68 valiant signet 2 door
I'm using the car for work this week before I pull the engine and 'box. It drives so much better with the ball joints done (as it should). Strangely, even though I wound the torsion bars down 3/4 turn it sits about the same height now as before. There must've been more play in the old joints than it felt like.
Re: 68 valiant signet 2 door
i'm making a start on pulling the engine and box today. i'll get the engine out first so i can slide the box out without removing the trans crossmember. that way i won't need to slacken the torsion bars off (not my first mopar rodeo ).
updates later.
updates later.
Re: 68 valiant signet 2 door
You can remove the trans crossmember without touching the torsion bars.

Re: 68 valiant signet 2 door
yes mate it was a new yorker i was breaking. don't i need to worry with this a body then? i've just been extra careful since.
Re: 68 valiant signet 2 door
No the torsion bar crossmember is welded to the floor, the centre of it is bolt in so you can get the trans out. Personally I find it easier to remove/ refit the engine & trans separately anyway.
