Court summons............

Post by Anonymous »

Is this right?

Got a court summons for "failure to notify of motor vehicle change of keeper" , now i sold this van in December 08 & i can't remmember if i sent off the change of keeper or gave the complete log book to the new owner , DVLA know this vehicle had a change of keeper so why the summons? , is this another legalised robbery scam?

Got this through the post this morning (£60 minimum fine) , why are they persuing this 6 months down the line? , & i thought the sorning of a vehicle is out of order now this. :?

So what's the difference if the owner or new owner notify them of the change? , bottom line is the new owner taxed the vehicle the day after i sold it , so they new within a week the vehicle had been sold.

It's just a pee take all the time.

We just had this at work, elderly resident died,no v5 found, sorn came through, letter sent to dvla explaining situation. Next thing we get a letter saying that the owner has a fine to pay coz he didn't notify them. They've had a very rude letter back. Tossers the whole lot,as bad as the NHS lazy bunch all of them.

i had the same thing when i sold my escort years back, got a letter telling me they wanted £75 as i hadn't informed them off a new keeper, i kept writing and calling them to tell them i had sent it off even the bloke i sold it too wrote to tell them as he was there when i posted it on and on it went until they said it would go to court, my lawer said they would win and i would also have to pay costs so i paid it but i was mad as hell, they definetly knew it had changed hands because i cashed in the tax disc for 3 complete months and the bloke who bought it got a years tax for it, bloody jobsworths the lot of them
