Im gonna, im gonna now it looks like clearances are ok. :D

All the rings I can find that size are Plasma Molly so I can not hone with anything courser than 400 grit. Unless there is rings anyone can recommend?

Suck it up chap, you could be buying a replacement block and assembly.

If that is not to your liking I have 1970 340 running in a car if you prefer.... ;) ;) ;)

Not got a problem paying it wasn't expecting that price.

Spoke to Performance Unlimited gave them all the measurements for correct ring sizes, told them situation with the engine and the Total seal Rings are what he recommends, will sell me cheaper ones but at the expense of possible blow by with my bores.

you get what you pay for I guess.

Yep looks like you got a second chance with all this. So all you need now is a nice .003" hone to finish up at a bore of 4.1035 giving you .004PTW either side....would've thought that would clean the bores ok.

Yep puts my mind at rest a bit more.

They recon a hone with 320 grit for those rings. I may give it a going over with 230 or 280 to gain a bit of clearance then finish the cross hatch off with the 320.

FFS get it done professionally and not with a hand tool.....

I think it was about £120 for a V8 hone last year........

So about 360 quid for a professional hone and new rings !

Bit better than a 440 conversion ! :thumbright:

You can get cheap 3 legged ones for less than 20 quid or a flexi hone for quit a bit more but much better.
