Indicator Flasher Unit solution.

Post by MattH »

In case you missed it on GJUK's thread, here is an electronic 2 pin flasher unit that seems to have totally solved my slow indicator problems for under a tenner delivered.

Same size and fitting as the original, but just has electronic gubbins inside instead of bi-metallic strips so it works at the correct speed even without the engine running, which is a rarity on Mopars in my experience. Has a nice loud click to it as well so you know when the indicators are on.

The supplier, Moss Europe, also has this handy video on YouTube that explains all about LED bulbs, electronic flasher units and why some cars need a ballast resistor:

Nice, I'll save that little snippet of info for later!

Glad to put some advice back in rather than always asking questions!

I actually bought one of those yesterday... I originally bought the slightly more expensive one that is supposed to be required for LED indicators (with an extra earth wire). However when I installed it, it didn't work at all, but my original flasher unit did! So when I took the faulty unit back, I got the one Matt posted a link to instead, and I'm very happy with the result... a bit quicker than the original bimetallic strip unit, but a good chunky feel to it.

Luckily I live about 10 minutes from Moss Europe in Feltham, so I could do the exchange in the space of a morning!
