honeing oil

can i get away with the knife sharpening stuff

or do i ahve to invest in importing flexhone specific oil?

PS 4 inch professional flex hone in US $85
in UK £192 + vat and £8 delivery...

so i'm importing but i don't wanna import a bottle of oil

Use plenty of WD40, or even better have someone squirt it while you are honing, job's a good un :thumbright: :thumbright: :thumbright:

WD40 will work perfectly fine.
If you can get it use a can of spray cutting lubricant for pipe threading machines, I got it if you get stuck Dave :thumbright:

You can

but you can ruin the hone due to matting up the stones with metal (not massively likley unless honeing out to size but a risk). fine if its just for the 1 job but i could only get the proffesional version with double the quantity of stones in the 3.8 to 4.3 inch size, so not a throw away purchase everyone had the standard one on order or masively expensive

i.e its good for many small blocks as well

so the aim is to never buy another one

anyone needs it at a later date it will be sitting there waiting for a lend-out and hopfully in decent nick

unless of course i manage to wash the bore again in which case i will be cursing and buying some new pistons and giveing the thing to somone else to finish off
