Headlight conversion
One of my sealed beam headlight has packed up, so instead of replacing it, I was thinking of doing a halogen conversion, has anyone done this, if so what tips have you, I've only got two 5.75" headlights dip and main.
Petrol is for washing parts, Alcohol is for drinking, Nitro is for racing!!!

Re: Headlight conversion
Jim, it's easy to do, did it on the Charger a few years ago.GTXJim wrote:One of my sealed beam headlight has packed up, so instead of replacing it, I was thinking of doing a halogen conversion, has anyone done this, if so what tips have you, I've only got two 5.75" headlights dip and main.

This guy does conversion kits, cheaper if you make it all up yourself mind, but it is a tidy solution.

As Pete said, relays are the way to go, pretty much essential IMHO.

Xenon = a xenon bulb for low beam and a halogen bulb for high
Bi xenon = a very bright bulb with a shade or filter mechanism that cover half half the bulb during low beam and move out the way for full bulb full beam operation
So a xenon light is basily an out side industrial flood like you see at the football ground
It's has a ballets (starter) that steps the 12v to 20,000v to start it then ones on 85v to run.
Positive
There bright , use less engery too run compared to halogen , last longer
Negative
There expensive. You will see cheap on eBay but pay peanuts get monkeys
All new cars that have them have to have headlight washer clean system so could be fun at future MOT time. Take a while to get going compared to halogen. Funny blue colour. Loads for sale are techanikly illegal but so it 71mph expect to pay £85 for 1 x bulb
I hate eletrics Bananarama! cables everyware
