Which carburettor
Hi all, how can I find out which carb number should be fitted to my 73 Chrysler CJ 360 ? As on my post in the eng/carb section it's running too lean at idle & light throttle & ive tried most things so I'm wondering if someone has fitted a different carb on it before I owned it. I can't seem to find much info for carbs fitted to Aussie cars only USA models. Thanks shaun

I think it should be a Carter, not a Holley from the factory but a Holley would be a good replacement which will work if set up right. It may be someone has bolted on a carb from something else with no changes to jets.

should do the job unless someone has strangled it with the wrong rods n jets
think a carter 2 barrel for a 383 is a different Carb (visually at least~) to the carter BBD used on the smaller engines (318 and smaller) and jeeps
i.e it takes an air cleaner with a hole in the base more or less as big as a 4bbl
whereas the BBD is quite small
it might be worth investing in a 4bbl intake and putting a 600 vacuum secondary Holley on.
it will work well in a low compression 8:1, auto trans car, with a normal OEM cam and 2.77:1 rear gears
i'm guessing the original Holley was modelled along similar lines to the 2 barrel Holley 500
headers cam etc then something a bit more would wake it up

Resize the picture in picture manager to less than 256kb (I usually do about 15% of the original size image, the save it with a new name so you don't destroy your original picture, then post it up.
