Re: 72 dart
thank you Dave, i tried to get it right, i spent a lot of time looking at what other stock racers were doing to get the numbers, and it was mostly down to good chassis set up, a good well built engine, and some good trans parts.
the engine is a fully built 340 Billadeau special , with iron heads running bigger valves and some porting, 415hp (john sleaths dyno)
750 race dp on a mopar single plane hi rise intake
a999 trans with 11 plates, 5.1 band, billet cases, small gears, and lots of other goodies from copes transmillions,
91/2' converter
4.1 gears with 28x9 slicks
b body mopar race rear shocks, callverts up front with 1/2' gap on bump stop
superstock rear springs with lakewood slappers (these alone made hell of a difference)
no interior just classic buckets
cage for pro stock class
glass bonnet, boot, bumpers, front valance and lexan side windows
not sure on weight to be honest
left the line at 1500 rpm and floored it
and a awesome Craige Ainge signwriging job
i lost out on the ability to make speed in the mid to end point, but it would hit well first 1/8, wheel up off the line.
i always felt i needed a shove at the half way, and considered nos but then thats not nostalgic racing,

I think I recognise the car now. Did it used to belong to a chap called Steve,I cannot remember his surname, from Kent direction? Bionic Redneck on the plate?

Struggling with the chaps name,he was either a journalist or photographer and used to organise a cruise at the Hop Farm near Paddock Wood Kent.
