My first import
After several months of waiting and WhatsApp messaging, my first ever import arrived home today.
Australian Holden Torana A9X lookalike. It's come all the way from Sumatra in Indonesia, via truck through Java to Bali, where it was containered and shipped to Singapore and then on to Southampton, where I went to collect it today.
An interesting and nerve wracking process, involving a huge amount of trust, sending money to people that I'd only spoken to via FaceBook and WhatsApp, but it all worked out and the car is now on my drive ready to be assessed for problems and get it fit for use.
Not to everyone's taste, but I've always loved the look of these since seeing them racing at Bathurst in Australia in V8 SLR5000 form.
It'll need work and is not a V8(yet), but is a good basis and to my knowledge there are none in the UK, and only one in Europe, in Germany.

Something different! I assume that would be small block Chevy in V8 form?

Excellent stuff Matt, great to see one over here! Looking forward to seeing the project progress.
What are the plans?

Well Done, Matt!!!
I know I have teased you about this through all the process (it's "Moredooriness", and general ugliness, etc!!!) but fair play to you for sticking with it, and more importantly following your dreams.
So pleased for you, and I hope it works out well for you.
All the best.
Pete

Re: My first import
Its currently a straight six but they were also built as 4.2 and 5.0 litre v8, so that is a possibility.
Alot of them get Small Block Chevy transplants, so I may consider that for the future.

Re: My first import
Just get it usable and sort any immediate issues, run it as a straight six if it will run, then maybe V8 SBC in the future.

Re: My first import
Sounds like a good plan, I imagine getting hold of a 253 or 308 may be a little prohibitive! Hopefully the old Red motor will provide good service in the meantime.

Very nice Matt! Can’t wait to see it in person; perhaps at SantaPod.

Re: My first import
I like that. I can see you spending a lot of time fielding the what is it questions.
24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not…
