I could do but quit fancied doing it myself, if the flex hone tools work out more then I probably will, no harm getting a price I guess.Pete wrote:FFS get it done professionally and not with a hand tool.....
I think it was about £120 for a V8 hone last year........

Flexi hones work without question, but there more intended for breaking up/deglazing a good parallel bore.
Ditto to Pete's advice.
Spend your money getting it done professionally. This is really not a time you should be considering DIY...

Exactly right Pete, you'll never keep the bores the same size, or square, or even match the correct cross hatch pattern.Pete wrote:None of my business, but do you think you can get all 8 bores parallel and to the same specification by hand?
You have had quite a narrow escape so far, I would not tempt fate.
My $.10 and I will comment no more............
Take it to a machine shop and get it measured and honed proffesionally Carl.
Even a bore and hone is usually only a couple of hundred quid, and the measuring will be included in that of course.
You want it right first time mate

The tools are slightly over bore size so the same tension is always there and its all to do with rpm x stroke speed x duration as long as that's the same for each bore there isn't much of a problem, its only really a de glaze not a re bore only takes about a thou off so wont make that much of a difference to the bore specsPete wrote:None of my business, but do you think you can get all 8 bores parallel and to the same specification by hand?

Not a case of winning, we are all just offering our opnions on this, you gotta do what you gotta do, there's just certain things we don't do that we could ourselves when it comes to engines if we want a good seal.
I would certainly get those pistons checked properly before you start to do anything as well as anything you do will depend on thier exact sizes. And if your financies run to that cam you wanted, now would be the time to do it...you'll have a stomping BB eater!!
