Those boards need to be Epoxy dipped to weather proof the components otherwise they'll be popping LEDs like balloons

The LED "bulbs" I tested in my challenger were the "all around" cluster LED type and still they failed to give an even illumination across the width of the lens.
But they were not THAT specific type Steve AllKiller has posted about so I can't comment on that particular one.

Yep, those dual LED bulbs are certainly an option and you can get them from Amazon UK for < £10 for a pair. Do a search for "B00878SZEK" or just "1147 LED" and you should see them pop up.
+1 on cleaning the housing as mine were in pretty bad shape and I think the cleaning certainly made a difference to the stock bulbs as well. I didn't chrome spray them or anything like that - just a decent clean is all.
Forgot to mention about the flasher but yes, you'll need to do something about that as well which is either; load resistors or just get a flasher that can work with LEDs. For the grand sum of £6.95 I got one of these from eBay:

Yes, it won't fit in he existing circular fitting under the dash for the old OEM flasher but it'll work
If you're really that errrr, picky, I believe there are manufacturers making LED flashers in the old circular housings.

This is a WHITE LED replacement bulb with LEDs pointing to the sides and even behind so that they have a more even light distribution. Fitted in a Neon that we used to own years ago.

This is a RED LED light the same as above. Red taillight LEDS show brighter through a red lens as less light is filtered out.

This is a NORMAL bulb. You decide which looks more even on the brightness.

Good comparison Dave i agree normal incandesant bulbs are brighter and Omni light emmitting.
Led are much brighter face on and less amperage draw and a lot less heat
But having said that i bought some 1 watt LEDs for the interior down lights in the footwell on the truck....JESUS
amazingly bright
