Some engine pics - Finished detailing the lump yesterday. Needs new headers but going to wait till winter to sort the motor. Ive re-wired quite a lot of the loom / fitted new alternator / valve covers / battery / belt / painted block etc etc .......

Ive been concentrating on the handling / suspension this week. I stripped the shockers off and replaced them with new uprated units. I also removed the sway bar drop links / the track rod ends / lower knuckle ball joints and replaced them with an hyperflex kit i bought from the USA. The wheels have been balanced and tyre pressures sorted.

I also removed the standard steering box and fitted the "Flaming river" unit along with a new pitman arm. Ive replaced all the suspension bushes which were absolutely shot at with new polyurethane units.

The shockers were way past their sell by date - they were leaking and compressed with minor effort. Prior to replacing everything the car drove like an old truck - it was all over the show. The upgrades have made a BIG difference and i can recommend the Flaming River steering box for sure.

Took the car on a run tonight and really threw it into the bends - OK its no Nissan GTR ( way from it ) but its a lot better than before. Steering is a little heavier when stationary but not as bad as i thought - Happy days

All looking great, might be worth changing the steering coupler for a flaming river steering shaft coupler. Eliminates all play, well worth considering.

I did get a coupler but they sent me the wrong one - tbh it looks as if its been replaced recently as there was no play at all on the existing one.

My new grill surround arrived this week from the states along with new roof drip rail trim. So I stripped the front end down carefully and pulled the grill / front panel off the car. To access the chrome surround i had to separate the front panel from the grill by removing the rear vacuum pot mounts ( 4 x screws each side ) and then undoing the 20 x 8mm bolts holding the trim to the grill. The original surround was a mess and had little dents all over. The passengers side was also slightly bent. Anyway the new one fits like a glove and has improved the front of the car no end..........

Father Christmas came today

Quite impressed with Summit - I ordered this stuff on Tuesday and it was delivered this morning by DHL. Thats damn quick ( thanks for the info btw Dave b )

So this weekend is mostly going to involve .....Stella / Dodge Chargers / scantily clad women in the Hot tub / sunshine / fitting new bits to my motor / bbq and lots of Lynyrd Skynyrd.......can life get any better

Your doing top work there, might be good idea to strip and inspect carb before putting it on, wouldn't be the first time machining debris has ben left in there, not quite the quality control you would expect.
