Not sure people understand what the term "Patina" means these days. To clarify, when referring to cars it means the original paint which as been attractively weathered naturally by the elements. It does not mean rust, primer, panel damage, miss matched paint or anything of the sort.

You make me laugh Andy.
Not everyone can have the cake and eat it.........though I don't disagree that most would love shiny paint, stroker motors, reliability and show trophy's, you have to cut your cloth as you can.
I had a car previously that was a few steps off a show car.............I hated the bloody thing.
Drive it for an hour, then spend two hours cleaning and waxing it. Used to wince evey time a stone was kicked up and detailed parts that most couldn't see.
Never again!
Saying Patina is a Kopp out is as bad as saying 'built not bought'. Different strokes for different folks buddy.

No, patina cannot be faked, but a poorly executed paint job can hide a multitude of sins. I know which I'd rather be looking at when it comes to purchasing a car.
When I sold Dave81 that nice Dart Swinger I could not believe the quality of the original metalwork. The patina was as real as the steel was good; nothing hidden.
Patina and /or neglect is a choice for some, a necessity for others.
I'm very proud to have painted my car myself, with my mates help, in my own garage. It got it's first bit of 'patina' before the paint had even dried when a temporary light fell on it
It won't get painted again for a very long time as I bloody hated doing it!
My Truk is more neglect than patina. It's more of a story. Every dent, scratch and patch is there for a reason. Nothing false, nothing is made to look patina it's just it get repaired for minimum cost with minimum effort and it bears it's scars with pride
My Valiant probably had a nice bit of patina which someone decided would look much better if they gave it a really poor driveway repaint, they were wrong....
