Can someone explain in simple terms, I see Androids, Kodis, Firesticks & such mentioned. When I have a look at the stuff, there seems to be of one type....

What exactly do I need to be looking at in order to say, replace a Sky package.

Kodi is a free and open-source media player - It allows you to play and view most streaming media, such as videos, music, podcasts, and videos from the internet, as well as all common digital media files from local and network storage media. It also contains box sets / new films that are out at the pictures and films that arent even out at the pictures yet ( in the UK ) it even has the full series of Grand Tour which is really good. Well worth the Â£60 !!

All you need is one of these.....

How does it connect to the internet? Is it wireless like my iPad?

Yes - just type in your wireless key and your connected. Every time you switch it on it will automatically update with any new films / box sets etc.

I cant wait for it to arrive and plug it in and see what I've got!

It will take a bit of getting used to - waiting for downloads etc etc. Once youve got the hang of it you will love it. The full series of Grand Tour is well worth watching.

Does it download and hold content in its memory?
In case the Wi-Fi signal is lost?
I guess it doesn't record.

Yep if ur watching a movie and have to go out, go back on same App , it will ask do u want to view from the start or resume ,and will show how far in u watched.

What? Discovery Channel pulling out from Sky? Thankfully no.... for us dinosaurs who like to watch tv programs on the tv... and pay OTT for the privilege

Must look into these alternatives mentioned here tho, as my Sky bill is getting out of hand

Its so simple to use - connect the KODI box to your TV using an HDMI cable. Select the INPUT / SOURCE on your TV. This will open up the media device - select the KODI App. This then open up a new screen with various apps - the most common being EXODUS. Click EXODUS and then choose what you wish to watch ( FILMS / TV DOCS / BOX SETS ) select the programme / film and then it will stream it as you watch it - job done.

This is a user video on how to use it - it also gives you instructions on how to download it for free onto your PC but if you buy the box just ignore that bit.
