YEAH, IT'S THERE! :woohoo:

Didn't go to plan on saturday (as you could probably tell). Chasing wiring problems most the day, and forgot to seal the header bolts in so had a few coolant leaks. Got on with it again today, and got the wiring tidied up a bit, but still needs more work. Initially had the dizzy in 180 deg out. Sorted that, and then it fired up. Good oil pressure, phew. Engine sounds sweet. Header gaskets leaking like a bugger on one side. Got it timed up, and set the carb. Went for a quick spin round the block, and it goes ok. Need to get a bigger battery. The original isn't man enough for the job with the higher compression ratio. Need to get the headers bolted up better on one side. All the rest of the wiring issues seem to be under the dash now. So it's there, but more work needed before I can really see what it's like. But I'm a happy bunny... :thumbright: :thumbright: :thumbright: :D :D :D

Well done Gringo. :D

Don't go spending yer $$$ on batteries just yet , if she cranks over ok with the coil lead disconnected then i'd be lookin elsewhere.

I will double check, but all day I've needed to jump it off the daily. Doesn't seem to matter where the timing was. I was assuming because I've gone from a very tired 383, with bugger all compression, that going to a 440 with around 10.5 to 1 compression, the battery would struggle? :?

Looks great Gringo, well done.

Not sure if you have one fitted but everyone who's fitted a mini starter says they fire up a motor much easier. Smaller and lighter and less drain on the battery.

I'll have a look into a mini starter. I thought they were just for header clearance, but if they work better it might be an option. :thumbright:
