I had a little fire when welding in a new bottom edge for the windscreen years ago. 
The sound deadener in there caught a spark.
I had to pour water in there as well as the dry powder. Just to be sure. But I know there was rust in there too from when the windscreen used to leak before I repaired it.
Quite a bit of filler dust in there too to be honest from the paint job.

I used a little filler type primer to try and get a slight textured finish when I put the satin black on.
The black bits should be matt black but I just don't like matt anything so everything I paint is satin black on my car.
The end bit went "a bit funny" when I painted it so I did it again.
Dashpad is cleaned up and re-fitted. I have a couple of the nuts that hold the pad to the frame missing. I couldn't find any subtitutes that would fit so did without them. It seems OK without them.

Had some time to work on the car today having finally got rid of the guests that had been staying. 
Glove box was in a bit of a state. The cardboard liner was dropping to bits. So with some thin tin, a dozen pop rivets, and a bit of spare headliner material, I made my own.

While the sun was still shining I covered the old parcel shelf with a bit of vinyl bought at John Lewis's. Stuck some new speakers in there while I was on.
I decided to actually have some music available this time so am fitting a DAB radio and CD player.

I finally got some decent carbon fibre to dress the interior up with.
This stuff is a sheet 0.4mm thick, formed in a press under high temp, with a high gloss resin on one side.
Not the cheap option. But I was having trouble getting any carbon sheets big enough.
It is like a wood veneer. Only you have to cut it with a diamond abrasive disc in a Dremel.
Only done the centre console for now. Next will be the plates from the inside of the door. Last of all I am going to attempt the dash.
That last one is going to be VERY tricky. Not even sure if I can do it.

Seriously though Dave, that looks great. The glove box and parcel shelf were good, but the carbon trim really is the nuts...brilliant work old son!

Thanks Ivor. Better than sticky backed plastic woodgrain vinyl I thought.

Take your time, don't try and carry on if you are tired and I'm sure it will be up to your usual excellent standard!
