I have always used Type F transmission fluid but Dex 2 will be fine.

Are you putting any kind of shift kit in while you’re in there?

I have a TF 2 kit , red clutches and kolene steels. Lucky it a heavy duty box with 4 pin planetary's and 4 clutches.

Do I need to strengthen the band apply strut , or will welding a piece on it ruin the strength. I don't know if they are heat treated or not ?

You can weld a piece of rod across the centre of the strut rod if you want to but it isn’t really needed unless you are running a lot of line pressure which you won’t be with a TF2 kit.

Yes thats a tricky one to get out. When you do the shift kit, do everything to the race only competition spec, its nowhere near as radical as the instructions would lead you to believe.

How many springs have you got in the front drum?

I've put 12 in, bit of a bugger struggle without the correct tool, but it's done now. The frictions are soaking in fluid, ready to go.

12 will work well with a 4.2 lever.

I made a mistake , the front drum only holds 3 clutches, what's the answer to putting 4 in and the clip ?

Swapping in a 4 clutch drum is the easiest way. You can machine another groove higher in the drum or if the clearances work out, turn down enough of the edge of the pressure plate to get the snap ring in. Or, use thinner frictions normally used in the rear drum, that might work out. You can mix thick and thin frictions if you have to.With 4 frictions 60thou. would be the minimum clearance, a bit more wouldn’t hurt but no less.
