Well after a little break,i sometimes reach burn out and just let it sit, but my latest f#%^ up ,is I forgot to check the clearance of the hood to cowl,and now the wipers will not fit under the hood, I need to raise the whole edge of the hood 1/2 inch ,

this is the third hood from year one and it is pure crap ,if I would have known I would have just gotten a steel hood and be done, and still might consider it, but the AAR is a cool hood,and I am in to for many hours , so why not add some more,

we have been under nasty weather conditions, with tornado sirens on a daily basis, hail, and thunderstorms that not only produce 2 to 4 inches or rain in an hour, the lightning cracks every 5 seconds, scaring this deer ,making it impossible to pull the cars out and use the garage, today how ever we got a little break, so it is time to cut the hood.

Finally got the exhaust tidied up , and have a nice 80k mile original motor running quite smoothly , and very nice easy for the wife idle.

Still working on the hood

Thanks guys, the thing has tested my patience more than I can count, and I seem to be more patient as time goes on, but I have looked at the workshop on here and there tons of these projects, and it keeps me motivated, and I HOPE I MOTIVATE SOME OF YOU , THAT IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT, JUST GET OUT THERE AND DO SOMETHING ON IT IT EVERYDAY ,AND SOMEDAY IT WILL BE DONE

Ok I have a bit more confidence with what needs to be done with this hood.

We made more progress with the jig, a very crude unit but it will move the skin and stretcher where we want it, as we need to stretch the hood 1/2 to 1/4 of an inch so the wipers will clear, we got it to move 3/4 of an inch in the center and about 1/2 inch on the sides,

We mad some 1/4 inch reinforcing fiberglass to install after the stretching is done, and we will bond it all back together and let it set and hope it holds the new shape.

So now I am adding more room by simply grinding the underside of the back edge of the hood.

and time has run out so the bonding party will happen another open day

Ok got the thing glued with pilo grip bonding adhesive, we got it stretched 3/4 of and inch, and also begin filling the ugly holes on the sides of the scoop.

I hate fiberglass,even covering up the crap gets everywhere, now time for a cold shower

I did manage to get Lisa in the car for a maiden voyage,but back to this nasty hood I should have pitched it in the bin a long time ago ,

but I have to persevere ,if you have read this thread, this is the third hood, so I move on.

I didnt like the holes in the scoop area, most AAR hood have this , so I went molar and filled it in,and now I know they the didn't bother to do it , it took alot of time, oh well I like it,and will move on to the next part ,repaint.

the nice thing I have learned over the years is ,yes black shows everything,so the street rodders that I have met ,with stunning lazer straight body's,they paint the car with a cheap black enamel , and then block the car.

Well since I have the hood already gloss black (and the painter agrees) we should use the paint as a guide to help make the hood as smooth as glass, and perhaps have a very nice straight AAR hood, when was the last time you saw that,??????????

Drew, that looks good, but why does one always have to 're do' all we buy for these cars?

most panels are way off when you get them, what gives?

You have to get things correct in engineering like you have to in your profession, it doesn't make sense does it?

Nice work Drew, I hope you are not itching to much!
