Yes, the accumulator is basically a shock absorber to cushion the gear changes. Blocking it from moving is part of firming up and eliminating slip in the transmission. The usual way is to remove the spring and install a blocker rod under it to hold it up. That bush is holding it down and stopping it from moving so different method, same end result.

Yes either refit the bush or use the blocker rod if it still come swith the kit.

The new seals are black plastic , but the old ones are steel.
Will that be OK?

Yes plastic is fine just double check the diameter matches. Also be careful removing the old rings, not all will be in the kit, the small one on the accumulator usually isn’t. Also don’t replace a flat ended ring with a hook style even if the diameter looks correct, you can replace a hook with a flat ended ring though.

I can't find a place for this home made ,ground down screw, it was in the pot of parts I removed from the rear servo.
Is it a home made blocker, if so do I need to put it in ?

That looks too short to be a blocker rod, can’t think what that would be for!

Yes always soak new bands and frictions. That bolt certainly doesn’t belong in the front or rear servo’s

Just had a look through the 3 books I have that may assist. The assembly manual just shows the trans as a 'bolt in' unit without any exploded diagrams. The Torqueflite book has hundred of photos but nothing obvious on first glance. My factory manual has the cross section diagram but nothing in the way of an exploded diagram. Im wondering if a factory parts manual would help?? They have very detailed diagrams. I have one on disc somewhere but nothing to read it on. Im sure you can access them online via a website that was posted somewhere on here.

Out of interest, what does the head look like? Cant quite see if its got a slot, philips or flat bolt just so I can see if it matches anything as Im going through the books with a brew.
