I thought piston to wall clearance is the difference between the piston skirt diameter and the cylinder diameter.
0.008" sounds too much to me, 0.004" sounds about right for a forged piston in a small block.
As I understand the bore diameter is now 0.008" bigger than the Piston skirt diameter. Therefore the clearance is 0.004"
I'd say the clearance is 0.008".
My error Mick, you are correct the Piston to Wall clearance is indeed 0.008".
In Engineering terms of say a bore to shaft, it would be 0.004" clearance.

NOT OFTEN YOU GET THEM SPECS MARK  MORE LIKE 3"-4" SHAFT TO BORE CLEARANCE AFTER A FEW STROKES, AND THE BORE IS NICELY LUBRICATED, ;)

By the way how do you measure your bearing clearances? :?
Oi behave :D

Okay its here, your next instalment of the rebuild you have all been eagerly awaiting.

The Block came back looking like this after its 5tho hone, its not 100% but a vast improvement on what it was. They said to get all the scratches out I would be going into the next overbore size and the block wont take it.

The black marks are from gapping the rings.

Then the block got stripped of all the old paint and a good wash down to clean the bores from the re hone. And the Block got a new lick of paint.

I gave the pistons a bit of a clean up, not great but better than how they came out. And Total Seal rings fitted.

A measure up of the mains and crank, and plenty of Bearing Guard on the shells.

Almost forgot about the rear oil seal going in.

Used my trusty High Tack Gasket Sealant in the groove then placed seal into grove gluing it in. Then Greased around the seal.

Time to pop the Pistons in at last. The Bore got another good dosing of oil as did the ring compressor. Yippee the Pistons are finally in the correct cylinders. And as you can see there is a noticeable PTW clearance now.
