Good work Carl! Just one comment though, I was always taught to lap valves in by hand so you oscillate the valve backwards and forwards and lift the valve frequently to redistribute the paste. Whereas using a power tool centrifuges the paste out?

Yes you are right Martin. I use the drill on its slowest speed a few seconds one way and a few seconds the other whilst lifting the valve too. Then give a final lap by hand.

Haven't tried that, does it work well? I had some impressive blisters after doing all 16 on my Satellite's 440!

It stops blisters lol. Yes I found it to be fine never had a problem doing it that way especially as the exhaust valves had black spots on the seat that would of taken ages to of got rid of by hand.

yes not hard is it, just attention to detail and clean clean clean!...we used Molybdonem sulphide I think it was called, on the bearing surfaces way back then, sort of helped run it in quick

....and then changed the oil....did you check PTV with that new cam?
