Shame to learn of this...the only positive is reading the replies from everyone which I think illustrate the mindset of the majority. I take it that the yellow Charger is not a MMA member as that would have been confirmed by now. If he was I would agree with Justin's comments about banning people who bring the club into such disrepute. If there is photographic evidence or staff witnesses could this be a referral to the Police on the basis of criminal damage? If the burn puts are going to require Brooklands to contract someone to clean and/or repair the road surface then there is a consequential loss. I know it's not crime of the century but at least if it lead to any kind of investigation it might fire a shot across the bows of people thinking about burn outs in the wrong place.

Hopefully Derek when a little time has passed you might be able to convince them to change their mind. Having a club commitment to ban any member might help persuade them but as you and others have said, if it's not our members, and Brooklands invited them, then it isn't logical or fair and could well indicate they were happy to have a 'reason' to end the event. If that is the case it is not a decent way to end things given your commitment over the years but it also means you must not take this personally.

Let's see where things lie after a couple of months.

The brooklands people should realize that the mopar people derek etc etc can not totaly police what some people will do, its impossible, and the joe public guy crikey we all see bellends in our life that have to shoot there mouths of what can dereks crew do about that, stupid to ban this event, but as a side note crikey was brooklands not once a scary race track where powerfull cars and over exuberence go hand in hand ?? people get excited yes its stupid but it happens brooklands should have a little lenience here,,
good luck getting it back derek i have never been its just not my bag but i see there are a lot of people that really enjoy this yearly get together,,,,,,,,

Indeed it was Dunc, but not anymore, it's now mainly a car & aircraft museum with the public wandering about, it's certainly not the appropriate place for laying rubber, particularly within the museum grounds. Last thing a place like Brooklands needs is one of these loons loosing it & damaging (in order of importance) life/limb....or God forbid, one of the aircraft on display.

Time & place for this kind of thing & they failed on both, but sadly queered our pitch on the way.

I am so sad to see this specially after all the good that was said about Brooklands ......... :( :(

First is the great work that goes into organising anything like this, but unfortunately one can not be responsible for all that turn up.

Second I think Brooklands are being a little hard on this and I hope Derek and others can talk them into letting us back.

Puplic safety is the most important for all these venues and they do not want to lose their insurance on the place, that will cost them big time.

So may be with some assurances/plan on how we as a club could try to stop this happening again will change their mind.

Good luck Derek, behind you all the way :thumbright:

Without regulating the cars leaving the site by physically stopping them at the gate and holding any that have caused problems,I don't see how these idiots can be stopped. Exactly the same problems as Wheelsday at Rushmoor. Pretty sure the yellow Charger was at the Nats last year, check your photos someone might know him.

Such a shame,

seems to be to be the thing in around m25 at the moment is to just sit there smoking them no matter the time place or risks.

As said, once people have cooled down, negotiations will hopefully recommence.

You cant.........but what you can do is regulate the cars that get in.

Its an MMA event. So to me all that attend by bringing their cars into the actual site should have to get prior approval from Derek/the group that organises it via a ticket system!
At this point they can explain that by allowing vehicular attendance you are bound by the rules and reg's as set by us (no more grey area and no more laying rubber).

This should also enable and help to allow in the proper enthusiasts with other makes outside of Mopar .......

Then explain to Brooklands that we will only use one entrance and only the ones with said ticket are allowed access..........all others are turned away and sent to the public/normal museum carpark.......by prior appointment only here!!!! :thumbright:

This is the only way to me you can mitigate for the bellends......if it still happens then what can any one person do?

If Brooklands then want to allow in other clubs it is then at their risk....not ours (should also be pointed out)!

The only thing that will be required is to get Brooklands to announce it on their website for 2015 and try your best to get Classic American to dedicate a feature on it reporting the issue and the new resolution to the future staging of this event!!!!

Maybe a possible angle to go with........can't think of another!!! :thumbright:

All sounds rather complicated (to me at least! )

Bear in mind Dave, that a lot of people turn up on the day without having made any contact with anyone ion the MMA, so we'd end up turning away a lot of people if we only let in those who had prior approval.

If we did get the event reinstated, I'd have thought the simplest and most effective way would be just to have a big sign at the entrance (or one at each pay station) and one facing the other way near the exit, saying "NO BURNOUTS PERMITTED ANYWHERE ON THESE PREMISES. OFFENDERS WILL BE PROSECUTED"

(if we're sure there is anything about a burnout that is prosecutable? If not, those last 4 words could be omitted)

Simples?

Sorry Rob......Mind was going fast and fingers couldn't keep up.......Basically only people with advanced tickets can get in with there cars. Others can get in with the rest of the general public......they just won't have their cars inside!

This is where you'd need Brookland's and Classic American to be on board with promoting the new the new setup, as to limit the disappointment on the gate. Those that did would know for the next year though!

Probably too much hard work tbh.......but the only way I'd think you'd get the general enthusiasts in vs anybody and everybody!

Otherwise I recon 5 years may well see a similar issue as new owners come to the for and cars change hands.........

Just my 2p....... :thumbright:

I think its a good idea to contact the national press and let them run the story, maybe even show the pix, hopefully that will give the Brooklands committee the message that we take this sort of disruption to our event very seriously.

The monthly mags, weekly classic papers etc, could be a good move............ whaddya think Derek/Shaun?

Private land. Not the queens highway. Possibly the only people that could get prosecuted would be Brooklands itself if someone got hurt or killed. Which is probably why they are so twitchy about it.

gutted for Derek and others who have worked so hard to build up this event

too far for me but always enjoy seeing the pics

so many posts this year saying thanks and what a great event it was, and now this, bo-llox!!

as said, let the dust settle, gather evidence that is wasn’t MMA members etc. and approach Brooklands

I’m sure the committee are well on with identifying the cars/owners, somebody mentioned a yellow’68 at the Nats, I have a photo of a yellow ’68 from the Nats, in my opinion it’s NOT the one photo’d at Brooklands, I’m not going to post the photo so as not cause any confusion

always a minority spoiling it for the many, time and place for everything and the knobheads got it wrong on both counts

I do think it’s a little harsh of Brooklands to react in this way without giving Derek chance to speak from our side

lets hope the committee can report some more positive news soon

Could we have an online pre registration scheme. Fill in your details, get a link to a form to print out and put in your windscreen and have a warning attached about unsocial behaviour on museum property

You have to do that via the Brooklands site as a lot of the cars that turn up are not members of the MMA
