Took a look under the carpet today. Found some rust areas.
About a 2x3” area on drivers side footwell, and strangely enough a band that runs across the transmission tunnel.
Upon closer inspection, it was not great news. Done some poking around the drivers foot well, and found the dreaded fibreglass, poked it all out, more rust and holes. Not huge, but I think a floor pan on drivers side will be necessary.
When the weather improves, I will have to look all over.
It looks like it’s rusted from the inside!
Maybe the washer pump had been leaking a long time.
The rust has formed in the lower levels of the floor.

No, I think this will pass the Blue weight test just fine.

Joking aside, 3D printed parts are lighter than the equivalent original part as they aren't as solid... ideal for the likes of Blue! :)

That part I printed is solid. Wanted it strong.

I am trying to get it to a point before we go walkabout for 3 weeks.
Hoping the weekend gets me to where I need to be.
I am close. If I can bear the winter months in the garage, I can complete for next season.
Just time wasters on the Nomad. I don’t know what they get out of it, hours on the phone, and they don’t bother coming!

Interior back in apart from under column trim.
Had to do a quick fix on the rust I found. But have ordered a new floor panel for that area. Luckily they have one down the road a bit in national mo-parts.
But that job can wait.

Well, after all that, I can’t have a hydraulic parking brake.
Just been down to the testing station, he thought it was OK, but when he looked into it, it has to be mechanical or electronic. Damn!
Problem is someone has “modified” the caliper brackets in the past, and the mounting tabs for the internal parking drum have been ground off. I mean, it looks tidy, but pain in the bum! Axles have to come out.
If I can borrow a trailer, at least I can take it to one event this year.
Ah well, at least I have the car, and plenty of time before the next season. :D

So I got the ingredients to mix some ASA slurry.
It is a melted plastic, that will bond with the original plastic.

Just mix the raw ASA plastic with Acetone. When it has melted to a paint like consistency, brush into the crack.
It will go off quite quickly.

Going to leave this overnight. To totally harden, then start sanding.
