This is all a huge bummer , such a good period venue Mate and we all know how hard you worked to build it up .
However it maybe an opertunity to grow the event in a different direction .
The mini event in Brighton springs to mind , not for a minute am I saying we could fill Madeira drive but in conjunction with other clubs it could work , after all brooklands is still an open event with a mopar area .
Plenty of room , council who allow a drag race in the same location once a year so can't be that bothered about noise etc ,and brighten up the general publics day with interesting cars ?

What sad reading this thread makes. I love a burnout...... but at Brooklands!!! The birth of motor racing. It's hallowed ground and pretty bad form.
Moving on......
If there is a move to Brighton, I used to do a lot of Ford runs in my Mk2 Cortina. Old Skool Ford did a few brighton runs and they ended up with us parking down in the Marina. I thought it was good fun but needs to be part of a run from London or whatever...

I have spoken to the owner of the black 300c wagon, he is sorry for what happened and said he did it as he thought the people taking pics wanted him to.

He also said that he did not say anything about "it's what they do all the time" he thinks he his being victimized as he is the only one being spoke about, there were two other cars involved and a member of the public.

He has told Brooklands that he will pay for the two black lines of rubber to be cleaned away and also he will make a donation to Brooklands

I have been asked by Brooklands to ask everyone to drop it now, so I'm asking.

Presumably he's also sorry about his comments about little boys being jealous of his car when myself and Derek expressed our opinions on facebook about his behaviour?

Still trying to locate the owner of the Mustang involved, although it seems he's not really part of the club scene. Not sure if he's even a MOCGB member, may just have an old sticker on his windscreen.

Hi Derek...just to confirm I've posted the below to Brooklands..

Dear Ms Hopton,

Please forgive me if this is misdirected:

I am one of three international Administrators for the 300C Forum, a worldwide internet community serving 50,000 enthusiasts of the Chrysler 300C marque. The forum is one of a stable of auto forums belonging to the Autoguide Network, which together boast 23 million participants, and over 3 million views per month.

As you can appreciate, our reputation is as precious to us, as yours is at Britain's premier automotive history site. You may imagine, therefore, when I was contacted by a committee member from the Mopar Muscle Association UK, informing me that you had decided to end this annual event, principally due to the behaviour of one of my members, who, in a momentary loss of foresight, decided to spin the wheels of his estate car at the exit slope as he left the site, (I understand you may already have spoken to him via radio on the day in question?).

Without prejudice, I would like to offer you, and your committee an unreserved apology on behalf of my members and myself. All those who attended on the day, (I include myself), enjoyed ourselves enormously despite the long distances some of us travelled (I came from the Welsh Borders, another from Rhyl etc etc). A small group of us have attended this event for several years - without fail we have all been entranced by the superb collection you maintain, so it is with very deep regret I find myself writing to you. I can also tell you that the driver in question has made a full, unreserved, heartfelt public apology to his fellows in the intervening days, which I would be happy to forward to you.

If the cancellation of the renewal for 2015 is in any way as a result of my forum's activity, I would be very grateful for any opportunity to regain our reputation with you. Should you allow us to visit in future, I assure you that I will put in place a stewarding system & information on permissible behaviour prior to any event. I would welcome any response on how we can rectify any problem areas in partnership.

Lastly let me assure you of our heartfelt goodwill. If it is indeed my member's lapse that encouraged you to cancel the 2015 renewal allow me to guarantee that, (should you wish), we would avoid attending en-masse in order that the event can continue. I encourage you to reconsider the cancellation on that basis, in order that we regain some trust with our MMA colleagues.

Respectfully yours

Good letter!

I wonder if the 300C owner has also put pen to paper?

If i'm honest i think the Charger and Mustang doing donuts withing the middle of the site, almost hitting members of the public, is the greater issue!

And alas it seems they have dissapeared into the smoke without trace..........

Look forward to hearing the response from the letter, to you and the team Derek! :thumbright:

I have deleted the name of the 300c guy after me and Liz were threatened at the Nats.

We were on our way back to the car after the burnout contest and stopped to talk to Roger and his wife, a guy came and stood behind them, after saying bye to Roger this guy asked if I was Derek, I said yes, he said his name was Bananarama! Bananarama!, we were then swore at and told if I did not remove his name there would be big trouble for me, he also told us that he used to be a bouncer and that he his not afraid of anyone.

The Bananarama! Bananarama! would not listen to a word I was saying and walked of to his mate who stood there laughing

He told me that Brooklands do not hold him responsible for us loosing Brookland (Bananarama! Bananarama!).

Can someone delete his name from Mustangbooks post on this thread
