Got the MAP sensor wired up tonight and started doing a tidy up on the wires around the engine bay. Spiral wrap is good but you don't have end up scraping your knuckles on everything as you wind it on.

Yeah those fuel lines from ProMax are really nice.
I will have to give that MAP sensor a shot of paint once I have made sure it is working correctly.
I just have to break my back and join some wires up under the dash this week and then I will fire the engine up and try recording some data.

All that trouble I went to getting those fuel lines, now you are using braided!

I used those lines for years though Jeff.
They are just too narrow for my needs now. Still got them stored though.

I know you have just scraped your knuckles, but that spiral wrap is going to melt with engine heat. Trust me, i know! Unless its some special heat resistant stuff. Personally i suggest the flexible plastic stuff like most modern cars use.

Engine has been up to temp a few times already with no ill effects. But with the hood up.
I will keep an eye on it Roger. If I need to change any wiring it is easier with this stuff.
I have correct type insulating wrap I can use if there is any sign of it deteriorating. Thanks for the warning.

There will not be any updates to this for a week or so.

OK I am back to working on the car again. Had a death in the family so the car had to take a back seat for a while.
I had a go at some data acquisition this afternoon. Not sure if I believe the vacuum reading or not. I will have to check it against a normal vacuum gauge. It is about twice what i used to have with the old cam.
RPM is around 1000 at idle. I would like to loose about 50-100rpm if possible. So I will need to make the holes in the throttle blades a touch smaller than they needed to be with the old hydraulic cam.
Got 16 degrees initial and 36 total advance at the moment. So a little work to be done on the distributor curve before I start messing with the carbs.

Very technical Dave, being able to check the data after every run puts you leaps and bounds in front of everyone else

Some of us were doing that 15 years ago ....
Looks good though, Dave

Sandy you are wrong there, you were not checking data after every run.
You were doing it during every run with the air con on too.............
