No wonder it was smoking bad.

Hopefully Uncle Blue can get me a new seal out in the post today.
However it now also depends on how fast this turns up;

I thought the price was good and my drilled out (hemi bolt size) stock flexplate was a worry in the back of my mind. I want to inspect my rear seal for leaks while the trans is off so may as well fit this new flex plate.

Well I am told by the supplier the flex plate I bought on his ebay shop will not be here until sometime next week.
So getting to the Wednesday night cruise is looking VERY unlikely. No change in my luck there then.
Also Blue sent me a new front seal for the trans to fix my leak but it seems to have got lost in the post. Another is on it's way though. Thanks Blue.

On Saturday morning I ended up with TWO seals from Blue and the flex plate also turned up. So things are looking up!
Problem now is time.
Diana had plans for me most of Saturday and we were out Saturday night.
Did manage to fit the seal during a short bit of free time though.
Sunday I had to go shopping and stuff. So it was 4pm before I could start on refitting the trans back in the car.
How much does a 727 + converter + GV unit weigh??
I had a bit of a struggle under the car getting the trans onto a couple of jacks. No wonder Dunc has big arms if he is lifting these buggers about all day.
Then I found the trans would not go up between the headers?
The bloody thing came down between the headers OK but would it go back up? Would it hell as like.
So off with a valve cover, drained the water out of the cooling system, removed the header bolts, and tried again.
Yey! It went in.
But then company turned up unexpected and I had to pack in for the night.
But I have most of the bolts in so everything should be straight forward from here.
Only one small problem. One -6AN fitting on a trans cooler line has bent and the nut on the end is jammed so I can't screw it on. I will have to remove the fitting from the hose and straighten it out. Hopefully that will fix it.

I noticed that in his ad he states that if you need the parts in a hurry to call him.
I sent him a email asking when it would be likely to turn up and he said middle of this week.
I said that was a pity because I would have liked to go to a cruise Wednesday night.
Next thing I know the thing lands on my doorstep just like that.

I still ache.
The car was not high enough to get the trans under so I had to use the jack to lift the side of the car a few inches to slide the trans under. But once it was under I had to lift it onto a chopping board and then onto the jack.
I had fun doing that I can tell you.
Anyway. It is in and bolted up. I ran out of time last night but only the kickdown linkage to re-install, propshaft and then the exhaust and one header.
There are a few electrical connections and a few cable ties to zip up and then just the water back in the block and oil in the trans and she should be good to go.
