Wow!
It's just like an engine, but smaller
Great work Jon.
I am up to the "Paint" stage myself - as is Roydon - and I have been mithering Ivor and Roger for ideas. I cannot spray 2K; which would be my first choice.
How are you going about the paint?

Went for " Massey combine red " in the end

block now painted.
Bronze gear fitted, oil pump removed, oilways blocked, pump drive shaft cut down and now sits in a phospher bronze guide bush.
Refrigerated intake taking shape .. the alli bulbs will sit in the airflow under the filter base plate. Alli spacer will be insulated and sandwiched between filter and carb, off centred using studded rod.
Next job is check all rockers and adjusters and change out as required, then build up intake, then start on dry sump

Ohh, don,t use 2k it will kill you dead in 3 seconds.... Tosh! As long as you know what you are doing and have the right equip. I clear coat using 2k materials in the house. I have no problems whatsoever.
I only use water based paints now, then clear with 2k. There are some clever paints due to be released over the next few months.

Funniily enough, recently painted a Mazda with red tractor paint.. Used an additive to satin effect it. Customer liked it, can't say I did.

Waiting for some gaskets so can`t button up engine yet
Mocked up motor plate and dry sump pump and crank drive pulleys.
Next job is to fit mid plate and gearbox and lower both into car to get the oil pump to clear chassis rails. This will then give me approx position of pump which will then be mocked up with a few different belt lengths to get final position ... it`s coming out as a 30" ish long belt.
Sump pick ups will be below chassis rail with oil pump just on top.
Also check position of mid plate / firewall and mock up prop angle.
As the car develops I will get the I.C. in the right place by careful placement of heavy items : oil tank / fuel tank / batteries etc.
