Can you jack the front of the car up and with the engine running turn left and right in an attempt to bleed the system?
Not sounding good....

I think Dave had a fix for something like this recently somewhere on the site.
Will try to find if I can.

This is the bit you need to adjust, undo the 2 nuts just a bit and either tap it up or down but only a 1/16th of an inch at a time.

Yep - thats the one...
In fact, if you look at mine ( newly rebuilt) you can see where its moved (unpainted, needs to tap towards camera) so i think first thing is -
A) jack it up and bleed.
B) tap it back to where paint suggests and see what its doing.
With no pump the box works fine so i dont think there is anything terminal.
High hopes. Let ya know.

Had same with mine after re-build !!
When I removed the valve body I discovered they had re-fitted the Pivot lever upside down - put it the right way around, slight adjustment all fine !!

Right folks. First proper test run. Few niggles to sort (dripping unions, cable routing, that sort of thing).
Early verdict -
- Its lumpy. 30mph/1200rpm cruise feels like its missing/spluttering. I dont think it is...
- Give her some gas and the lumpyness disappears and she PULLS (and this is without kickdown adjusted!) Like FAST.
- She's noisy.
- She's HOT. I ran a 180deg in her this time as the last one ran cool at 160 but wondering if thats a mistake now.
So - fettling to do. Some serious testing to do. Might even try the vac advance now on a diff carb !
One thing I can already tell - she's a different beast now.
Shall I stop these wittering updates now ? I think they are more therapy than anything...

No keep it going Morgan. I'm guessing Bob's motor has higher compression than what you were running? If it has you may need to tweak the cooling a bit. Up side is ... push the gas the peddle and you know its worth it.

Yes keep going, your rambling updates will probably help others out in the future. I for one will need to look at my steering box
