I don't know but I have looked at them and I think they are their own castings based on Chrysler engines from some point way back.

Maybe some of the Crew lads will know. But I have often wondered myself.

I remember a Hot Rod built with one years ago.

Knowing Rolls I would expect the casting to be heavy. I did a bit of work on one once and it didn't half look like a 383 with minor changes. I wanted to pull a rocker cover off to see if the head bolts/rocker gear were chrysler like but the owner wouldn't let me. :D

In 68 they were fitted with GM turbo 400's
and later stroked to 6700cc from 6230cc to help with weight and emissions

From what I understsand , a RR engine should not be taken over 4500 RPM , the reason may be longevity , smoothness , or just that the motor can't take the punishment (valvetrain) over this RPM. :dontknow:

No Neck will know more about this , as he works for em.

Really? I am pretty sure the one I did a few wiring jobs on was iron. :? It was an old one mind. Not sure how old. Private plate and all that. Early to mid-60s I thought.
I must be remembering wrong. :? But like I said I was not allowed to mess with it mechanically.
