My Nats - mopar_mark

Hi all,
Nats had a few highs & lows for me. Was great to meet up with people I already knew & was also great to finally be able to put faces to some of the names I recognise from the board.

Partially my own fault, but left far to much to do in week prior to the Nats to get fully prepared.

I knew I was cutting things fine, but didnt take into acount the unexpected things like, stripping half a dozen teeth of the starter ring gear. Managed to obtain another one, but was a 6 bolt crank as opposed to a 8 bolt crank. Fews hours driving to get the part, few more hours making one decent ring gear from both parts cost me almost 1 1/2 days.

Had a serious idle issue, which took me the best of 3 days to eventually trace to a water temp giving strange mesages to the computer. Idle was ranging anywhere from 800rpm to 2,800rpm
Wasn't able to get new sensor in time & thought I could by pass the sensor as idle seemed to be calmed down.
Finally loaded car at 10pm friday night, set off at 7:30 Sat morning. Unloaded, finished & checked a few bits, pieces, I did complete on Friday.
Motor sounded fine, until I put load on it.

Decided what the hell, would give it a try if I can keep the revs up :thumbright:

Managed to get the rpm's up & straight into a rollin burnout, only for the catch to spout watter higher than the fountains in Vegas. End of run & thrown off the track  (Apologies to those who runs I delayed)

2nd run, was again aborted as marshall felt he saw more fluids, again thrown off the track at which point I decided enough was enough. Was dissapointed, but think it was the correct decision.

So guess, I have to wait till next year to finally have a proper run at the Nats.

Once gain, was good to meet new & old members.

Cheers, Mark . . . . :thumbright:

P.S If anyone go any photos of my 1st burnout, would be much appreciated if I could have a copy ;)

When I was sitting in the car, I could see the pressure building in the catch can & the water was getting higher & higher.

Almost expected some one to put a ping pong ball on the stream & for everyone to pull out their air rifles like the fair grounds :D :D

Real shame Mark, was sounding great to begin with :(
Here's the fountain at it's full height (really got the girl's going!) and the burnout from the first run (yer crew chap was in the way and knocked me servo focus off as I was panning, but I think they're ok)

Yer mate's not the worst offender :D some of the quick cars had so many people hanging around on the burnout I couldn't even get a clear shot, so gave up on those :(

I was absolutely gutted that I did not get to see that car up close; it looks stunning in the pictures.

I really hope you get the bugs sorted and turn out for the Hot Rod Drags.

That and the Javelin runnning side by side shoud really be a sight.

Best,

Pete
