Horn and oil leak

What a great combination.
I've just taken delivery of a '65 Coronet. The friendly MOT man passed it but I have to get the horn working. I've worked out that it's not the right steering wheel and I think it's a '61 to '68 Dodge truck wheel.
I have the horn ring, a wire sticking out and the centre button. Nothing else. All the gubbins inside is missing. Any idea what I need to track down to get this working?
I would post a pic but I can't figure out how as the file size is too big.
Second thing. It's dripping a not insignificant amount of oil from what I assume, is the rear main seal. Big job for an experienced mechanic? Motor is a 440. I can't do this myself so will need to farm it out. Probably to someone like Paul Mitchell at GS Autos in Romford. Just wondered how much this would cost or whether it's normal and just leave it.

No oil leak is normal.

Is it leaking engine oil or transmission oil? It is very common to get a transmission oil leak from the bellhousing. A new front seal cures it and is easy to fit but you do have to drop the box.

Transmission oil is red.

I take it your not to far from me Les if you know Paul and Pete at GS ?
My Coronet spent about 8 months with them !!!
Doesn't sound a major job. I'd run it down to them and get a price if you think it is too big a job for you to do ?

Cheers chaps. Fluid is black but seems very thin to me.
I'm in Thundersley near Rayleigh.
I think I'll have a poke around and see what the fluids in the engine and box are like for comparison.
The front end has been wound right down so I can't even get my head underneath the sill!

Black oil?? :shock:

If the oil is black it is in need of changing no matter which oil it is but if it is the transmission oil that is very worrying as it should never be anything other than red.

Rear engine seal is possible to do with the engine still in the car. Not an easy job done like that though.

Could add a simple bush button horn for the mot attached to the dash to get through in the short term

I have an original 65 Coronet wheel in light Blue, that may be for sale if you can't get it sorted :thumbright:

Thanks for the offer. I kind of like this one to be honest. I just need to figure out which contact ring and springs I need.
