Battery recommendations ?

Anyone got anything they particularly love ?

Doesnt need to be authentic looking (dont care!) so no £500-period-correct-reproduction-yellow-endcapped specials needed... :)

My existing battery is a small, halfords brand, 10 year old. Done very well. Want something with more grunt. Size obviously not a problem - battery tray big enough.

Anyone bought anything they particularly like ? Or dislike ? Or had blow up/melt etc etc... ?

I've had a Bosch battery in my chally for over a decade and it works bootiful, starts after lengthy periods no sweat, can't remember the last time I had to connect a starter to it :thumbright:

I got a cheap and cheerful local motor spares special 7 years ago, works a treat, 70aH, the secret is to keep it topped up with a battery conditioner

A big Bananarama! off diesel battery that can be shoe-horned into the tray.

Some companys are offering "Lifetime that you own the vehicle" warrenties and register the battery to a car. Might be worth doing that....

Yellotop 55Ah 650cca ~£200
Redtop 50Ah 800cca ~£150
Bosch110 80Ah 720cca ~£110

Bosch is enormous, but I have room and the price is more attractive. Yellow top looks great though :)

we use to run yellow top in sound cars 5x battery's loads of music

they use spiral cells so you can run them total flat and then recharge great for music cars at shows.

This is the one on my Charger and once you remove all the stickers it is plain black and looks good.

Thread conclusion - Thanks to all (as always) for the input.

In the end our winner was dr.Worman. The combination of local availability, massive capacity, brand and middle-road-price won out.

( Yellowtop definately won on 'looks great' ! :) )

Anyway - thanks to all.
