I've got the GTX running well but I'm getting a lot of engine vibration through the steering wheel. It's manual steering.
Is this fairly common or does anyone know how to reduce it?

Tracking & wheel balance I would have thought . I'm manual & don't get any vibration.

It's not that as you can feel the vibration at standstill.

No expert, but any chance that your headers or something is touching the steering shaft......hence its transmitting the engine pulses right into your hand

Good call Dave and also if the headers are touching the torsion bars they'll transmit vibration thru the suspension, same for any part of the steering links and arms touching the sump etc

Thanks boys, Nothing is touching the steering shaft or the torsion bars. Thats what has got me stumped!

Possibilty that the actual column is slightly off center (or normal) and hence what clamps them in situe is touching rather than being bushed as it goes through the bulkhead?

If its not touching in the engine compartment then that's where I'd be looking next?

A mate here had a vibration like that on a 383 car. It turned out to be the gearbox. Swapped it out & it was fine after. Went through all the usual stuff as mentioned above . Dunc swapped it out in the end & sorted it.

Steering box is tight tight on k frame ?

I put new engine mounts on my car which lifted the engine slightly and made the exhaust downpipe just touch the floorpan near the pedals. This transmitted, at idle, into vibration in the steering column....might be worth a look
