Just had a shock took a wing off the dart to a local blasters I was told that soda blasting takes 3 times as long as glass bead and got quoted £50 + material for glass bead blasting the wing. So I had it done they have just rang me to collect and said that its now £150 so on their reckoning soda blasting a wing is £450. Wouldn't mind but the wing wasn't rusty and most of the paint had worn off down to the undercoat

I know its a bit late now...... but you could try Sussex blast cleaning in Hailsham, e /sussex next time.
they blasted and powder coated a adult tricycle and parts for £70 , for a friend reciently.
A bit more reasonable.

Hi John
Thanks mate its not that there are not blasters around here but they are mostly shot blasting and I was after glass bead or soda blasting it just i thought it was a bit expensive as i was going to have more panels done but at that price i think i will get the DA out and do it my self

If the paint is solid and not rusty, I would just rub it down. It has done its job for 40 odd years so why remove?

Im with matt, your car has the original paint on it , wouldnt take long to knock it back , and repairs have to be done blasted or not, and blasting can rear its head further down the line when it starts to reappear , normally when you are putting on the top coat

Hi matt and terry I would agree with you if i had much of the original paint on it but most of it has gone and there is a lot of surface rust.
I was just being lazy really
