I heard a tale of someone from the UK tried to do it with a home built hot rod. Apparently at certain times of the year you can cross at the Bering straits. He eventually got as far as Russia then got hijacked by Russian bandits and had to hitch hike home....

Interesting.........being realistic though, due to the length, I fail to see where it would actually be cheaper than using air travel. It would take 40 hours in a modern high speed train doing 300mph (that's if it doesn't stop between Blighty and the US.
US parts via road even at $0.10c a mile would still be $1200 delivered before tax etc.
As for going through some parts of that region...........
I'll take the plane and go the short route............
