innovate A/F gauge problem

The challenger has an unnovate A/F gauge and when it's warm it's just going to the open air reading of 22.4, could the sensor be kiboshed ?
I haven't delved into it yet but i took it for a run last night and once warm it pulls great so it doesn't feel massively lean. I will have a look for anything amiss and pull a plug to see what it looks like.

sensor neads to be earthed for heater to work does this through exhaust

wires get burnt on exhaust

connection into gauge pod on my AEM at least is pretty crap needs a wiggle.

if its a bosch sensor you need a new sensor and plugy bit as the sensor is calibrated at the factory by the resistor in the plugy bit they come as a pair

if the sensor seems too cheap its probably being sold without its calibration plugy thingo i.e they are not less the 20 quid and you may see some at that pice on ebay....AVOID

PS if you don't mind me asking

where do you stick it?

if its up the tailpipe you will have more of this problem than if its in a bung

if its in a bung is the bung somewhere between 10 to and 10 past on the clock if you look down the exhasut pipe like its a telescope

any lower and water dribbles in and it Knacks your sensor

have you been running leaded race fuel or AVGas

sensor lasts 25 to 50% of the time it would last if used with unleaded

Dave it's in the exhaust just after the header collector, doesn't look damaged, i will investigate further.
Plugs look ok.

An easy way to check Mick is to take sensor out, attach a jumper cable to ground and then wrap a petrol soaked rag around the sensor.
Turn the Bananarama! on & if it don't go to max rich straight away it's proper Bananarama! ;)

Take it out, have a quick look at it, if it needs cleaning give it a clean with carb and inlet cleaner, then leave it out and plug it in and let it do it's warm up and it's recalibration I sometimes do this twice, then screw it back in let it warm up, then start up and hopefully will be sorted.

Thanks gents, i'll try that. Been out in it tonight, dont half feel quick on the street but i cant get used to the ratchet shifter, getting into reverse is a pig sometimes and it dont always want to go in third.

mick, cant say i liked that quicksilver shifter either !! double check adjustment on trans i did set it up correct when i fitted trans but maybe the ratchet shifter has some wear in it now

I don't like Quicksilvers either, hard to get 'em set up just right and they jam easily, I find that with most of the more modern B&M's actually.

Maybe there's a teqhnique to using them but sometimes it's at the stop but it's definitely in second gear. I had one on my Dart years ago and couldn't get it down the track, changed it for a cheetah problem solved.
Some people swear by ratchets shifters, personally i cant get on with them.

I can't be doing with a Ratchet either - I' never put one in a race car; though the Bee has a ratchet in it and I can't "bee" arsed to change it.....the biggest single difference was changing the cable and re-routing it for a smoother change...............Winters or Cheetah all the way!!!

Got a PPP in the Altered but that is air shift..............

I think mine is a Hurst pro- matic, OK for 1/4 mile but i find it awkward to get reverse and park. :?
