Passing on a future "classic" to my stepson

So, stepson Jordan has been driving a few years, just about to turn 20.
His first car, a little 1.3 Fiesta eventually died via an MoT, cue a request to bank of mum and stepdad to help him out.
Have decided that from the fleet we have have that he can have this cheeky little number
2002 MG ZS 180, 2.5 V6.......
Bit of a step up for him power wise, but he's a competant driver.....
But I look at it like this, he's not earning much, he has an interest in cars but he's a long way off owner anything American which is his goal. So by giving him this car he can become a member of a club scene, its actually quite a nice car to drive, parts are cheap and its reached the bottom of the price for this car.
Love them or hate them, they are cheap and pretty reliable and dare I say it a future classic.........
Wish I still had my Calibre as well now......

Insurance is a bit steep at 2K but he knows he has to fund that
Cam belts etc are a pain but there is a local specialist if we need it

If that's ever considered a classic this side of the next century I'll eat my proverbial.
Best just parting it out now.

Admittedly it's going to be a long time!
But we would have said the same about Datsun Sunnys!

Nowadays "Classic" means either "Old" if old, or "Cheap" if new
Hope he enjoys it!!

The first car I got my misses, after she passed her test, in 1989 was a mustard coloured 1973 Datsun 120y coupé.
She loved it .
Worth a few quid now , and well sort after with the drifting clubl

I reckon these Rovers and MG's will get a follwoing quite quickly, worth keeping one in good condition now.
I regret us getting rid of our 1978 Mazda 323. Great little car that was, bit rusty but a nice drive and rare now, and RWD.
