All very James Bond. I love Russian military and space stuff, it all looks so sinister....

Still think the Ekranoplans take some beating.

So amazed that such a project can just be terminated like that it just looks like everybody went to lunch and never came back........very eerie, but very interesting :thumbright:

I think with the big changes in Russia over the last few years, the money just ran out overnight. Now that Putin has started sabre rattling again, no doubt other secret projects will be underway....

We went to the cosmonaut museum in Moscow recently and I never knew there had been a Russian shuttle... It looks just like a clone of the US one but apparently was designed independently, the notice said.
The money ran out also for the giant floating launch pad - very James Bond - now mothballed somewhere.
There is something that looks like an Ekranoplan in the middle of Moscow. Apparently its now an exhibit. We didn't have time to get to it unfortunately.

Love those Ekranoplans. That photo looks like the Orlyonok which is the smaller one.
Revell made a model kit of it, which I have in my stash.
