POWER BIG MEET JULY 7-9 2016, JOHANNISBERGS FLYGPLATS, VASTERAS, SWEDEN

Got back from Sweden late Saturday night, my first time at Power Big Meet, and I’ll definitely be going back

Had 3 fantastic days, 23degC, blue sky and lots of sunshine, lots of walking too but well worth it, awesome cars and unbelievable cruising at night

Got hundreds of photos to sort out, I won’t post ‘em all, honest

Six of us flew out from Manchester to Stockholm on Wednesday evening then got the bus to Vasteras, arriving at the hotel about midnight a good number of classics already in the car park including a very nice Coronet 500 vert

To sum up the 3 days … we went for a long walk and looked at some cars, simple as that

ahem, Manc Commandment #51 …
thou shalt never refer to a long walk as ‘a long walk’, it shall be one of three;
1) A Trek
2) A Mission
3) A Mooch

Thursday; A Trek

we walked the few miles to the show at the airfield, a steady stream of classics passing by, even in the city, you don’t walk far before hearing the rumble of a v8

Once into the show we did the markets, the usual array of auto-jumble, t-shirts, tools, etc, and speciality displays, an estimated 800 vendors occupying a couple of miles either side of the runway and taxiway

Early afternoon and onto the show field, a vast array of quality classics across the era’s, ok, so a car show is a car show is a car show, the difference here is the scale and sheer number of cars, reportedly 10,000+ each day

About 6’ish we walked back into the city, look who I spotted on the way out …

Image

@Matt; by the time I recognised your car / English number plate you were out of shouting distance, amazingly I did find your car the next day on the field but you were nowhere to be seen, catch up next time ;-)

Nice selection of pics, it's hard to get across to people the scale of it all, it's so much more than just a car show

We were there Weds to Sun, have driven there the last 10 years but flew this time, good friend who lives in town leant us his 65 Impala convertible to roll round in which was nice :-) Have stayed at the Scandic every year since 99 but this year stayed a little way out of town in an apartment which was a lot cheaper.
There's a good chance this years show will be the last PBM as the organisers got robbed on the Friday evening and lost around £120k in cash, they've said they won't run it anymore, be a shame as next year would have been the 40th anniversary
