Steering Pump Belt HELP !

Have a 383ci 1966 engine 4 bbl and power steering pump 'squeals' loudly on anything other than straight ahead !
Ordered new belt and gone to change and got old one off but can't get the pump to move to tighten it back down ?
Is there a 'special' tool for this or to lever it whilst tightening bolt back up ?
Thanks

Firstly, are you using an American belt? Anything else is the wrong width and pitch and will not fit correctly. You would normally use a long pry bar to tension the belt while you tighten the bolts.

I think the front plate on mine has a 1/2" sq hole to use a breaker bar to pull it over.

Mines a Saginaw pump and it has the square hole for a 1/2" breaker bar. Not sure if the other types have it though.

I would be keeping an eye on the water pump now.
