Anyone know of a good rolling road in the south east, Someone who knows how to tune holley carbs? Looked into at a couple but customers seem quite negative when you talk to people about their results. One even said it was much worse when he got the car back and had to retune it himself to make it run any sense !

I don't think many Brit rolling road places understand Holleys tbh

Be surprised if many know one end of a carb from the other these days and if they do it would be Webers I reckon.

AP racing engines in the midlands sorted my Escort on Webbers. He has all the gear there but its a drive for you for sure.

Holleys are pretty easy to tune and are forgiving, I have found that you have to have things like timing and ignition systems working well before you entertain tuning the carb.

I think that Carbs get the blame when other things are actually the root cause.

Hi,
Where are you in East Sussex ?
I'm near Hailsham, And I know of 2 local to me . One in Eastbourne , and one in Hailsham.
Unfortunately, as Blue said , their bread and butter is electronic controlled fuel injection, and turbos.
I am going to pop in on the one in Eastbourne, for a chat soon , as I want to get a power run for my Holden.
I will ask him about 4 barrels.

I totally agree and perhaps I gave the wrong impression by just saying holley's, obviously on a rolling road you can get the best combination of timing, curve and carb.

I have been looking at you tube and (in America) a very experienced mechanic set his small block up using all the usual ways with vac gauge ect and the rolling road guy still got another 30hp out of it and smoother running all round.

I am checking the timing this week to see what I have and will take it from there, it's not that there is a problem with the running it just seems silly to not get the best out of what you have got, or perhaps I will meet someone who really knows what they are doing and is willing to help, I know there are plenty out there that know a lot more than I do !!

Hi mate, I'm in Sedlescombe near Battle, I know the ones you mean and they are no good for us. Like you say with injection and/or a turbo they are probably fine. I usually use one up at Dartford and he is superb with that type of engine but again not with v8/4barrels.

I will have to bribe somebody to have a look if I am not happy with it when it is set up :D
