Prora is staggering in its scale.

The Maunsell sea forts hold quite an interest for me, I have read quite a bit about them and when I was treated to a light aircraft flight out of Headcorn I flew over them. Would like to travel there by Boat one day.

I visited Prora some years ago, it is colossal and quite eerie. I liked the island of Rugen I'll visit again some time.

That must have been a sight to behold.

Not abandoned but a great story nonetheless.

These were floated into position full manned and armed, then sunk onto the sandbanks outside the Thames Estuary.

Some of the locations have been included in Yesterday's "Abandoned Engineering" TV series if anyone's interested.

Dave R and my self visited Bodie, Ca.,cool place very cool, high plains desert(nasty winters), at the time 100,s of miles from nowhere, and sure enough weather forced most people out,and they were no longer able to mine the gold, ver cool place for sure, one of the highlights of our trip :thumbright:
