ok, i've owned many american cars over the years,
but i have to be honest, all have been on modern rubber,
i went out today in a rain storm, i know not the best for the car,
but JESUS CHRIST!!!!! how bad are bias ply tyres.
i'm on firestone wide oval poly glass tyres.
they are the worst tyre i have ever had the misfortune to drive on.
i cant believe more people didn't die in the 60's
or how many cars of all makes are still left.
understeer at walking pace! brake lock up instant at any speed.
wheel spin on every other gear change ,
i know they look cool, but the next thing to change.

sorry rant over.

It is amazing the difference decent tyres make. Even going old to new radials you can feel the difference.
A Triumph Herald on cross plies was a buttock clenching experience in the dry, so a Hemi in the wet

I know what you mean. There were old narrow cross plys on my 72 Hillman Avenger when I first got it 30 years ago. Lethal in the wet, like steering a boat.
I replaced them with radials on Gemini KNS and drove a load better.
