Hi guys, I need some advice please. This RHD '67 V8 was found recently here in SA.
While loads were sold back in the day they were all /6 cars.
Am I correct in saying some RHD Barracuda's were sold in the UK those years?. Converted by Chrysler UK?
Apparently the SA Police imported 4 RHD V8 Barracuda's in '67 to evaluate. They were sold off.
Wondering if those cars came from the UK way back.....
Thanks :read2:

Yes, the RHD UK cars were sold through Warwick Wright, they came with suspension package and 4 pot Kelsey Hayes brakes.

The RHD conversion was not done in the UK, they were built that way. Not sure if it's true for all of them but the one I had was assembled in Canada.

Thanks for the info, it is a really rare car here, not even sure if any of the other 3 still exists.
Will get owner to check suspension and Kelsey brakes.
Not sure if that vin shows where it was built.
Thanks again👌

There was at least one South African Barracuda in the UK, it was a long time ago now though, not sure what became of it. I remember it because it was a club member looking for steering components which apparently were different from either UK or Australian RHD cars.

Chrysler also used to supply cars in kit form for local assembly, not sure if that included SA.

Chrysler UK - United Kingdom: A History of Chrysler in Britain
For the 1967 Model Year, Chrysler International had decided, as would Ford for 1967, and Chevrolet/Pontiac for 1969, that the Australian subsidiary was to provide RHD cars worldwide, save for South Africa which had its own versions of the cars. Thus, the 1966 model year was the last time right-hand-drive Chrysler cars were imported from Chrysler. Chrysler International also consolidated imports, moving them from the separate Kew companies to its office in Bowater House, Knightsbridge, London, in 1969.

Thanks for all the info guys.
Blue, I wish one can find more about that one car.
The owner is new to our SA Mopar club, but I'm gonna try and help him as much as possible.
Appreciate the info :thumbright:

Adam Ford might remember it Roel, I think it might have been in a line up of gen 2 Barracuda’s at one of the old Brighton runs.
